Today MANITOU is an international group employing more than 2000 people present in more than 100 countries, with some fifteen or so subsidiaries (of which 7 manufacturing) and 500 sales outlets around the world.
Installed in the west of France in Ancenis, MANITOU has been directed since 1998 by Marcel Claude BRAUD, the founder’s son.
In 2004 59% of MANITOU’s turnover was achieved on the international market.
In 2004 the group recorded a consolidated turnover of 822.2 million Euros.

History
The first all terrain truck was produced in 1957 and resulted from a simple and original idea: Marcel BRAUD, the company’s founder, thought of reversing the diagram of a farm tractor and giving it a lifting boom and hydraulic steering.
It was to be called MANITOU and gave its name to the family firm. Its success among users very quickly made it a generic name.
