A key theme of Versalift's presence at SED this year is spare payload.

Versalift

While many platform users are keen to buy into the new era of van-mount offering higher reach on more and more compact vehicles, they should keep an eye on spare payload as this is arguably more critical to productivity.

Van mounted access platformVersalift offers good spare payload across its range of vehicle-mounts, especially on more compact van-mounts where spare payload may often be compromised.

ET30NEXS

Visitors to SED can see the Versalift ET30NE XS platform (10.5m working height and 6.0m outreach) mounted on a jack-free 2.9 tonnes model of a 3.5m long wheelbase Vivaro van. The reduced weight configuration platform frees up more payload – up to 160kg, including driver, passenger plus fuel, the best available for this class of van-mount. This model can also be installed with stabilisers on 3.5 tonne vans offering up to 700kg of spare payload, also very impressive compared to equivalent van-mounts.

The ET30NE XS features a telescopic boom with fixed fly boom for direct, efficient positioning, plus 360 degrees turret rotation. It provides a maximum outreach of 6.0m on the one-person, jackless version being shown at SED.

Together with sister platform, the ET26NE XS (9.2m w/h and 6.0m outreach), the NEXS range offers unique flexibility and compact manoeuvrability at the lighter end of the van-mount sector. Both of these reduced weight platforms are primarily designed without stabilisers for operation in 1-person mode, on either 2.9t or 3.5t vans, giving exceptional manoeuvrability in confined space and fast turnaround. Models with stabilisers permit 2-person operation and would normally be fitted to 3.5 tonnes vans.

ET38NF

Another Versalift unit on show offering outstanding spare payload in its class is the ET38NF (14.2m working height and 7.3m outreach) on a 3.3m medium wheelbase 5.2 tonnes Iveco Daily. This van-mount offers over 1290kg spare payload, over 250kg more than the competition, a significant advantage if you need to load lots of spare parts and equipment, or want a customised, fully-featured racking or fit-out with washstand, workbench etc.

The ET38NF on show features Versalift’s new walk-in bucket and will be fitted later this year with load sensing to facilitate greater horizontal outreach when operating with one man in the bucket.

On a 3.5 tonnes Ford Transit, the ET36NF platform (12.9m working height and 7.3m outreach) conserves over 300kg of spare payload. Alternative vans, such as the VW LT46 at 4600kg GVW, offer up to 900kg of payload.

The ET36NF platform also achieves the largest spare payload available of up to 1010kg, compared to equivalent platforms, when mounted on a 4600kg GVW Mercedes Sprinter 411CDI/35 (or equivalent VW LT46). This marque of vans offers the user a strong residual value, compact dimensions and an effective payload.

The ET26NEXS (9.2m working height and 5.5m outreach) will fit on a Mercedes Sprinter 3.5 tonne SWB (3000mm wheelbase) leaving over 600kg of spare payload (or 800kg on a Transit). This unit is proving very popular for lighting maintenance, offering quick job times, with a major contractor in the south running a fleet.

On a 5.2 tonnes van such as the Iveco Daily 50C14, the Versalift EST46NF (16.5m working height and 7.3m outreach) provides a spare payload of 800kg, in addition to carrying a 2-person crew and full tank of fuel. On a Daily 65C15 model, spare payload is as much as 1720kg.

The EST46NF can also reach 17m when fitted to the Mercedes Vario 814D/37 panel van, with 2285kg of spare payload overall. This provides excellent volumetric and weight capacity.
