Although the largest Hitachi mining shovel is the EX8000, the 518-tonne model is the largest working in Europe. Visitors will not be able to miss the giant excavator that will be the focal point of HCME's product display for the seven-day event.

The new generation of Zaxis-3 wheeled excavators will also be a huge attraction on the stand at Bauma. The ZX140W-3, ZX170W-3, ZX190W-3 and ZX210W-3 - ranging from 14 to 21 tonnes - will be launched during the exhibition.

The machines have been fitted with more powerful Tier III engines, resulting in enhanced digging performance, increased travel speed and reduced fuel consumption. They have also been developed to provide the same benefits as the current range of Zaxis-3 crawler excavators, which were launched in 2006.

The second phase of Zaxis-3 crawler excavators - the ZX180-3 and ZX160-3 - will also be unveiled to the general public for the first time. They will be joined by three new mini-excavators - the ZX10U-2, ZX17U-2 and ZX22U-2 - and the new ZW180 wheeled loader.

Another special machine on the stand will be the ZX200 excavator that Hitachi has developed specifically for clearing landmines. This is already being used in Cambodia and other war-torn countries like Afghanistan. It will be accompanied by some new environmentally friendly concepts that have been developed with the future of the construction industry in mind.

HCME will have a covered pavilion in addition to the larger outdoor area. This will comprise of a number of other attractions to provide visitors with further information about the manufacturer and its range of construction equipment.

"HCME has been preparing for Bauma 2007 since early last year," says Manager Corporate Communication Raymond Hendriks. "Although it takes place in Europe, Bauma is renowned globally. All of the main manufacturers will be exhibiting and so it is important for HCME to have a strong presence and a stand that creates a huge impact. The EX5500 will also help to draw in the crowds.

"It is the perfect platform to launch the latest phase of Zaxis-3 models to a captive audience. The new products will help to further strengthen our range of construction equipment, especially in the mini and mid-range excavator categories."
