Production Continues Despite Partial Workshop Demolition

Whenever precision and speed are called for in light-duty demolition jobs, hydraulic grapples offer the ideal solution - and an MG 1200 D MultiGrapple recently put in a convincing performance in just such an application.

To expand the production area within an industrial operation, several sections of a workshop wall had to be removed while production processes continued uninterrupted behind them.

As it was only possible to cover the machines and equipment, sited directly behind the wall, with tarpaulins to protect them from dust and noise, it was absolutely essential that none of the broken material fell inward.

Because the 80-metre long wall was a steel and brick structure, the MG 1200 D grapple was the ideal tool for the job. To prove the point, the demolition company owner carried out the first stage of the job with the grapple himself and was quickly impressed by the precision and speed with which the MG 1200 D could be positioned, thanks to its hydraulic rotary drive. Both the short cycle times (time to open and close the jaws) and the high closing force (5.5 metric tons) were rated extremely highly.

Thanks to the grapple, the demolition work proceeded without complications and was actually completed two days ahead of schedule.
